Working Out What Goes Where
Working out what goes where in a story can sometimes be tricky. Luckily, there is a simple tool we can use to help shape our PLOT – no matter what kind of story we are writing! This lesson will show you how to structure your stories, and how to make your story events flow in an exciting, satisfying way.

Learning Intentions
1. Learning about the Three-Act Structure, and what happens in a story in each of the three parts.
2. Thinking about planning our stories, and how we can use The Three-Act Structure to develop our story plot.
3. Exploring descriptive language to develop our character’s world and emotions, and to add interesting detail to our plot.
SUCCESS CRITERA:
1. Identify the three acts in the Three-Act Structure, and can describe what happens in each of these acts.
2. Use the Three-Act Structure to organise my story ideas, and to develop a plot outline for my story.
3. Used descriptive language to add colour and details to my story writing.
Discussion Questions
We all know stories need to have a beginning, middle and end. How would you describe what happens in each of these parts?
Think about your favourite story, or a story you have read recently in class.
o What happens in the beginning?

o What happens at the end of that story?
